Announced Friday as part of Disney's D23 Expo, Lizzie McGuire will return with a sequel series made exclusively for Disney+. Hilary Duff will reprise her role as Lizzie, supported by original series' creator Terri Minsky. Deadline first broke the news.

“It is so great to be home,” Duff said of the reprisal. “The good news is just like me and everybody who loved her, Lizzie grew up. She’s older and wiser and has a much bigger shoe budget.”

A continuation of the original series, the new project will follow 30-year-old Lizzie as she explores adult life in New York City. Per Duff's description, adult Lizzie is now living in Brooklyn, working for a fancy decorator, and dating her dream guy, a high-end restauranteur.

That said, the animated younger Lizzie will continue to provide commentary on Lizzie's thoughts and internal struggles as the events of her life unfold, just as she did on the original show.

Whether Lizzie's friend Miranda, boyfriend Gordo, former heartthrob Ethan, or nemesis-turned-ally Kate — and the actors who played them — will return remains to be seen.
